Boston Marathon Terrorist Bombing

What a sad state of affairs when something like this happens...  I sure hope they catch the people who did this, quickly and with deadly force.

Patriot's Day in Boston, a holiday that has many people out and enjoying the day.  The Red Sox rallied in the 9th to win the game and had just ended a few blocks away, some people wandered down to watch the race, but today has become a day of terror.

Nearly 27,000 people were registered to take part in today's race.

Two bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street; the first in the lobby of The Fairmont Hotel near the finish line, another by the Lenox Hotel, nearby; the blasts only a few seconds apart. Reports from The Boston Globe of three dead, one a child, 13 critically wounded, 8 children injured (one of those along with their mom), ten amputations, and a total of 176 people were injured in the blasts.

I'm so angry!

Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos.  Some of the injured are being treated at the scene.  Reports of people trapped under scaffolding was being reported as the scene is still a logistical mess, with police unprepared for such a disaster.

The Boston Herald reported "two huge explosions" just before 3 p.m. at the Boston Marathon finish line at Copley Square.

"Marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding", The A.P. said.  Many injuries were due to glass from the explosion.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel is reportedly under lockdown and the Lenox Hotel is being evacuated.  The Green Line Subway system has been shut down, the airport tightened security, and the city shut down.

According to scanner chatter, EMS is reporting the discovery of another device in front of the Mandarin Hotel.  The AP reported three more explosive devices have been found, unexploded, but another one was supposedly detonated at the JFK Library and was later reported to be a fire and unrelated.

Most of this story broke on social media before news crews could even cover it which is scary considering the news coverage of the race.

Coming from the NY Post:
The suspect — a Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today's blast — is currently being guarded in a Boston hospital.

The Celtics have canceled their game for the 16th, in part due to respect of those affected by this tragedy and part because their arena could be a target until the city can get a hold on what happened here today.

Prayers, positive thoughts, and all good things to the families of those affected by this tragedy. May no mother have to bury a child, but if they do, let those responsible pay!
