Death By Beaver

You can't make this stuff up.

A fisherman in Belarus (that's a country between Poland, Ukraine, and Russia) was bitten to death...by a beaver.  He was trying to take its picture.

The man spotted the beaver while fishing with friends at Lake Shestakov, but as he approached to take a photograph, the beaver bit him on the thigh. The animal managed to sever an artery, and his friends couldn't stop the blood flow.

Zoom lens, people!!

I'd like to point out at this time that beavers can, of course, bite through trees

Beaver attacks are rare, though, and when they do occur, rabid beavers are generally to blame.

A Boy Scout leader from New York was attacked by a rabid beaver while swimming in the Delaware River.  The animal then bit him in the leg, buttocks, arm, hand and torso before he managed to grab it and hold its jaw closed.  One Boy Scout pulled him to shore, where he tossed the beaver away from him. The Scouts then used rocks to kill the animal.

But just recently, a video was posted on YouTube showing a beaver going after a Russian man.

This sort of thing is not confined to the cold climates of Europe.

Two girls were seriously injured after being mauled by a beaver in Virginia, one in Lake Barcroft and the other in Fairfax Lake; just days after another rabid beaver bit an 83-year-old woman in a Fairfax Lake.

Yeah.  Not so cute and cuddly now are they?  Want to know how I like beavers?

Apparently, it's "kill or be killed" in the beaver world and if I'm victorious...I'm also warm.  Take that PETA!

*The Boston bombing is still first and foremost in my thoughts, but I need to add a little humor to my life or my anger will take over.

Boston Marathon Terrorist Bombing

What a sad state of affairs when something like this happens...  I sure hope they catch the people who did this, quickly and with deadly force.

Patriot's Day in Boston, a holiday that has many people out and enjoying the day.  The Red Sox rallied in the 9th to win the game and had just ended a few blocks away, some people wandered down to watch the race, but today has become a day of terror.

Nearly 27,000 people were registered to take part in today's race.

Two bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street; the first in the lobby of The Fairmont Hotel near the finish line, another by the Lenox Hotel, nearby; the blasts only a few seconds apart. Reports from The Boston Globe of three dead, one a child, 13 critically wounded, 8 children injured (one of those along with their mom), ten amputations, and a total of 176 people were injured in the blasts.

I'm so angry!

Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos.  Some of the injured are being treated at the scene.  Reports of people trapped under scaffolding was being reported as the scene is still a logistical mess, with police unprepared for such a disaster.

The Boston Herald reported "two huge explosions" just before 3 p.m. at the Boston Marathon finish line at Copley Square.

"Marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding", The A.P. said.  Many injuries were due to glass from the explosion.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel is reportedly under lockdown and the Lenox Hotel is being evacuated.  The Green Line Subway system has been shut down, the airport tightened security, and the city shut down.

According to scanner chatter, EMS is reporting the discovery of another device in front of the Mandarin Hotel.  The AP reported three more explosive devices have been found, unexploded, but another one was supposedly detonated at the JFK Library and was later reported to be a fire and unrelated.

Most of this story broke on social media before news crews could even cover it which is scary considering the news coverage of the race.

Coming from the NY Post:
The suspect — a Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today's blast — is currently being guarded in a Boston hospital.

The Celtics have canceled their game for the 16th, in part due to respect of those affected by this tragedy and part because their arena could be a target until the city can get a hold on what happened here today.

Prayers, positive thoughts, and all good things to the families of those affected by this tragedy. May no mother have to bury a child, but if they do, let those responsible pay!
